Home Rescue 2025

For the Trenton and Ashlie Wailehua family, life revolves around family, community, and serving others. Alongside their two dogs and a small flock of chickens, they’ve built a life rooted in hard work, love, and gratitude.Just last month, a devastating flood swept through their home, destroying the entire basement—including their teenage boys’ bedrooms and bathroom, laundry room, living area, and family gym. What was once a space filled with laughter, movie nights, and memories quickly turned into heartbreak and loss. Despite the challenges, the Wailehua family continues to show up for others. Deeply involved with the NXTLVL Football Foundation and its youth sports programs, they spend countless hours volunteering, coaching, and mentoring local kids, helping them find confidence and purpose through sports. Their belief has always been that community is built through contribution—even when life throws its hardest curveballs. For them, the Wailehuas say that "Home Rescue would mean far more than new walls or fresh flooring—it would be the restoration of hope, stability, and the home that has long been the foundation of our love and service."

The J.J. and Mayce Cabero family is a close, loving family of five. J.J. proudly serves our community as a police officer and is also an Army veteran who has dedicated his life to protecting and serving others. Together, the Caberos are raising three children, two here on earth and one in heaven. Their youngest son, Mateo, tragically passed away 5 months ago.
The home has become a sacred place for healing but it’s in need of renovation to truly be the safe, peaceful space the family needs. The emotional and financial toll of Mateo's loss has made it hard to keep up with the repairs and updates to make our home more of a functional healing space.
For the Caberos, Home Rescue isn’t just about walls or flooring- it’s about restoring hope. It’s about creating a space where our children can grow, where love and laughter can return, and where Mateo’s light can be honored every day.
The Caberos say, "Losing Mateo changed our lives forever. His memory fills our home with love, but also with deep hard reminders of what we’ve been through. We’re a family rooted in faith, service, and resilience simply hoping for a fresh start in the home that holds so many of our memories."

Meet the Wouden family — Ben and Kimberly, with their 5 children. Shortly before their wedding 16 years ago, Ben was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery and radiation. Soon after their first child was born, Ben began experiencing symptoms that eventually led to a diagnosis of Smoldering Systemic
Mastocytosis, a rare progressive (and incurable) disease leading to severe allergic reactions, chronic pain, neurological complications, and unpredictable health crises. The medication that helps control the disease also brings serious side effects, including depression, tremors, headaches, insomnia, and cognitive
decline.
While he was able to support the family for a time, eventually the disease progressed to the point where Ben could no longer work. Long-term disability coverage ended in July 2025, and the family became dependent on support from loved ones and their local church community while they work to rebuild stability.
Kim has homeschooled all 5 children for many years, and recently began training as
a reading tutor so she can support the family while continuing to care for Ben and guide their children’s education.
The Woudens say, "This journey has stretched us, refined us, and strengthened us. Life is heavy, but it is also deep, beautiful, and full of grace. We are in this life together. We are holding onto faith. And we are profoundly grateful for every act of love that has helped us keep going."
